Just about three years ago, God was stirring a desire in my life to connect with other men in the workplace in a deeper way. My good friend Steve had invited me to come to a CBMC Family Night Out, and little did I know how God would work in my heart through that event.
After a good meal and great conversation with some new men friends I had just met, we sat in some bleachers to watch Lew Sterrett teach us how to both break a horse and ride him around a corral on the same evening! But it wasn’t just that he got the horse to submit to what he wanted him to do – it was how Lew did it. Gentle but firm, setting clear boundaries, reinforcing his love and respect for the horse’s spirit. (Jeremiah 31)
It was about halfway through Lew’s demonstration when I began hearing God speak to my heart about how He was working with me as well – gentle but firm, setting clear boundaries, reinforcing His love and respect for my spirit. It is now three years later, and I have been able to see God use CBMC to disciple many of us men to greater Christian maturity, and in turn grant us newfound boldness and grace to share our faith in the marketplace! (2 Timothy 2:2)
If you are not scheduled yet to come to Family Night Out tonight, won’t you consider setting aside some time this evening to come, and better yet, invite someone to come with you?
We will be serving some wonderful tailgating food starting at 6pm at Henderson Hills Baptist Church, and Lew Sterrett will once again demonstrate again the amazing similarities between breaking a horse and God bringing a lost child back into relationship with Himself (1 John 1:9). Maybe your guest is a guy just like me waiting for God to send someone to help him get more deeply involved in an eternal purpose like CBMC?
Click the button below to get your ticket. It’s only $10 per family, and that includes the food!
For those of you in the Oklahoma City area, I hope to see you tonight!
