We’ve all heard the saying, and most of us probably agree with it, but let’s break it down. Because the reality of collaboration is a lot harder than simply affirming that we’re better together. And it’s more challenging than just grabbing a friend and working towards something together. Often, collaboration involves different perspectives, different personalities, and lots of letting go. The pursuit of collaboration invites us to vulnerability. It requires us to trust others, trust process, and trust timing. But it also offers us the opportunity to expand beyond imagination.

As we focus on leading with collaboration this month, you might notice some things come up for you. Maybe you value collaboration, but you are reluctant to delegate, hesitant to ask for help, or afraid of losing steam by slowing down. Collaboration is hard. And while not all hard things are worth it, we believe that this one is.

This month at Polished, we’ll be focusing on leading with collaboration. Having recently merged with Women in the Marketplace, the work – and benefits – of collaboration are fresh on our minds! Join us all month as we collectively engage with how we can lead others in a collaborative effort, considering the very real things that hold us back and dreaming about how collaboration can be a springboard for long-term impact.

She has successfully owned an Insurance agency for over 13 years, leading a team of employees to success. Her agency produces over 4 million dollars in premiums, annually, with over 2000 insurance policies in force. In addition, Nerissa has been honored with several Agent of the Year awards and continues to motivate and lead in the industry. Not only does Nerissa have a long record of successful leadership as a respected insurance agent, she also volunteers for several organizations in the community. For over 15 years, Nerissa has tirelessly volunteered as the Chairman of the Board for the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, where she has selflessly offered time and resources to aid in the awareness of suicide prevention and mental wellness. She is a wife, mother of two daughters, and grandmother of five.
